Lhasa sits at roughly 3,650 metres. Weather shifts with the seasons, and so do festival calendars and road conditions toward the high passes. There is no single “perfect” month — only a better match for your pace and interests.

Spring and autumn

Many travellers prefer April–May and September–October: longer days, clearer views toward the Himalaya, and comfortable temperatures for city walking and monastery visits. Hotels are busy in peak weeks, so we book early for private groups.

Summer and winter

Summer brings monsoon influence — greener valleys, occasional rain, and lively festival energy. Winter is quieter and cold, with sharp light that photographers love. Some high routes become harder; others stay open with careful pacing.

Share your dates and we will say honestly whether a Kailash kora, Everest overnight or eastern loop fits — or whether a Lhasa-centred itinerary is the wiser start.
